In the paper recycling industry, where our relationships are often intertwined with our suppliers and customers, collaboration is key to providing the best outcome for everyone.
Our customers rely on Genus to be the vital link for their paper waste management, ensuring the smooth running of their operation and allowing them to focus on the main function of their business. When we became aware of problems that CT Paper Sales were having with their existing wastepaper recycling company we were happy to help.
The solution to wastepaper recycling
Genus took over the recycling contract and introduced telemetric technology into the company’s compactor unit that was able to provide them with a notification when their bin was full. This simple technology triggers a 24-hour window for the team to arrange a collection before there is a problem.
CT Paper Sales have been specialists in the conversion of a wide range of paper grades for over 30 years and they were more than relieved to find a company like Genus to manage their off-cuts and paper waste. Their General Manager Toni Rowbery said,
“Genus understood exactly what we were looking for, a continuity of service that allowed us to keep hold ups to the minimum. Genus fit the bill. They were able to iron out any niggles for us and we are left with a waste management process that runs like clockwork.”

Genus can provide all the equipment required to manage paper waste onsite, but in this case, Genus worked with CTs own unit.
“We were happy to help CT with this extra bit of tech – something so simple but it makes a huge difference when you know how.” Says Pat Kilcoyne, Director at Genus.

Seamless waste management process
For Genus, the aim is to provide companies like CT with a seamless service, effectively taking care of their waste, saving them time and generating an income stream for their business. In order to deliver these great benefits, we work alongside key partners in waste management, one of which is AR Richards Ltd, conveniently located just down the road from CT.
Collection and transportation
In this instance, the Genus team arrange collection and transportation to AR Richards where the waste is sorted and baled, but it isn’t just left there. Through Genus Trading, we find a home for the bales within our vast network of paper mills in Europe.
Paperwork management
Genus handles all the paperwork on both sides, from AR Richards for example, and the documentation required to get the bales safely to where they need to be. This can often be a significant undertaking, so we are always ahead of the curve with this one.
Waste management partners
The contract with CT Paper Sales is just one example of how Genus and AR Richards work well together. In fact, Genus and AR Richards share other business contacts that are mutually beneficial. James Hallam, General Manager at AR Richards speaks highly of their relationship with Genus saying;
“To try and find people that are straightforward to deal with, that can be difficult but that’s the difference Genus makes. Our relationship is so transparent which makes them easy to deal with, any issues are ironed out quickly and it makes my life a whole lot easier.”

The Genus Difference
With feedback like this, we know that we’re making a difference to our customers and suppliers by making their life as easy as possible.
“We aim to provide an optimal income stream for wastepaper generators like CT, we provide essential outlets for companies like AR Richards achieving some of the best rates possible for paper waste and we support our mill customers with a steady stream of recovered paper for their manufacturing needs. It’s a win-win for everyone.” Says Pat.
